Scared kids do scary things. Often, children who have experienced early adversity, have an inability to appropriately communicate their needs. This leads to challenging behaviors and broken relationships. Some children may also have a very sensitive stress response system, which means they have a “hair pull” trigger or thin emotional margin. This can look like scary behaviors resulting from small stimuli. In this training, we will look at how we can recognize the things that trigger a stress response from our children, and how to address them. We will also take a look at our own triggers and how they might impact our response to our children. We will explore where some of these behaviors come from and how best to handle them.
