Join us on Saturday, April 4th from 9 AM to 1 PM to help keep our public lands clean and open to the public. This is a popular area on the Prescott National Forest that needs our help due to the amount of trash left behind by others. April 4th is also Arizona's 1st Public Lands Day! Our friends at REI will be cooking up a free pancake breakfast for volunteers and Big Daddy E's Smokin BBQ will be serving up their amazing BBQ for the 3rd year in a row! Register for participation, free breakfast, and free lunch. **Volunteers under 18 years old are welcome when accompanied and supervised by a parent, guardian or adult group leader. Volunteers with OHV’s & 4X4’s: If you have a truck or trailer, we could use your help hauling loads of trash to the dumpster Please bring sturdy work gloves, especially for items that have been shot up. Non OHV/4-Wheel Drive Volunteers: You do not need an OHV or 4x4 to participate. The road is graded; volunteers with cars and SUVs are welcome! The area is officially called Doce Pit, but the road sign says 'Dosie Pit Rd’ Sign-in: 8:30-9:00AM | Safety Briefing: approx. 9AM | Cleanup starts: after safety briefing What to bring: We will have gloves for you. *Youth volunteers will need to bring gloves that fit their hands, most of our gloves are in adult sizes. Bring leaf a rake if you have one, there is a lot of trash that will be much easier to remove with the help of a rake. Trash grabbers and buckets are also helpful. We suggest putting a piece of duct tape with your name and number on your tools to ensure they are returned to you if you get separated. We will also bring out all of our grabbers & buckets. What to wear: please wear clothing and shoes that can get dirty. Wear gloves, long pants, thick sole & closed-toe sturdy shoes, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. No sandals or flip-flops. Water: Please help us reduce our use of single-use plastics and bring a refillable water bottle or hydration backpack. We will have water jugs for you to refill your bottles. You will always be fairly close to your vehicle so you can also keep extra waters in your vehicle. Breakfast & Lunch: REI is cooking up a pancake breakfast for volunteers. Big Daddy E’s Smokin BBQ from Chino Valley is bringing a bbq lunch out. If you have any dietary restrictions, you may want to bring your own breakfast or lunch.
