Loosen Up! Acrylic and Oil Painting with Derek Penix
Mountain Artists Guild is honored to have Derek Penix, the 2016 Gold Medal Award winner in Oil Painters of America’s 25th National Juried Exhibition where he won a $30,000 prize, come to teach a workshop for us. Derek was recognized in Southwest Art Magazine's “21 Under 31” artist competition in 2010, and Oklahoma Magazine's "40 Under 40" in 2014. His work is included in the May & June 2018 issue of Fine Art Connoiseur’s article ‘Something New in Realism’. Derek will cover topics such as the power of warms and cools, complementary, harmony, edges, shape-quality, variety, simplifying, loosening brushwork, elements of design, elements of light and shadow and the power of suggestion. There will be a strong emphasis on seeing in terms of mass and shape relationships.
