Salary: Commensurate on experience
Hours: Full time, Monday through Friday, Normal business hours, evenings/weekends as needed
Education & Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree
Location/Travel: On site (no remote work)/ Travel may be required.
Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing, and walking in an office and warehouse setting. Lifting up to 30 pounds may be required. Assistance may be requested for lifting more than 35 pounds.
Other Requirements: Driver’s license, current insurance, clean record, & background check
Minimum Job Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree preferred.
· Five+ years of senior management experience, including staff supervision
· Five+ years in nonprofit sector
The Executive Director supports The Community Cupboard’s mission and will demonstrate dynamic leadership by fostering strong internal and external relationships. The Executive Director (ED) will be responsible for providing overall leadership, direction, strategy and vision to ensure The Community Cupboard has the financial resources needed to thrive. The ED will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for volunteers, programs, community engagement and execution of the mission.
Responsibilities Include:
Managerial & Operational Duties
· Oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and services.
· Hire, develop and maintain staff structure that supports effective and efficient services.
· Assist the Grant Writer and Chairperson on grants to ensure all requirements are fulfilled.
· Maintain up-to-date policies and procedures.
· Ensure day-to-day operations and programs are efficient and effectively administered.
· Lead, positively motivate and support volunteers, ensuring a team-oriented working environment.
· Manage volunteer recruitment and retention
· Lead marketing, fundraising and community efforts in conjunction with Board members marketing plan.
Fiduciary Duties
· Develop the annual budget working in conjunction with Treasurer and the Chairperson.
· Sustain the fiscal management of the organization, which includes operating within the approved budget, ensuring maximum resource utilization, and maintaining the organization in a positive financial position.
· Identify funding needs and work with the Board of Directors to develop and implement funding strategies.
· Track changing community needs and be proactive in modifying services to best meet those needs.
· Ensure transparency through timely reporting and audit compliance.
Board Governance:
· Report to and work closely with the Board of Directors, seeking their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising and increasing The Community Cupboard’s visibility in the community.
· Communicate effectively with the Board, providing all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
· Serve as a staff voice to ensure member needs are at the forefront of decision-making and integrated into all business.
· Maintain and develop key operational materials, including Employee Handbook, Volunteer Handbook, policies, procedures and other organizational documents to ensure consistency with organizational goals.
Public Relations:
· Build positive relationships with Yavapai community, business and non-profit partner organizations.
· Maintain strong relationships with funders, donors, volunteers and neighbors.
· Be the voice of The Community Cupboard in the community through public speaking and representation at meetings.
· Leverage partnerships with mission-aligned organizations, food companies and other subject matter experts to enhance the value, impact and scope of support offered.
· Establish and maintain community civic, business and non profit relationships.
· Financial management experience, including budget development, budget management and financial oversight preferred.
· Fundraising or grant writing experience. Experience with donor relations preferred.
· Strong organizational skills, including planning, delegating, and program development.
· Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals within and outside the organization.
· Solid oral and written communication skills, and experience with public speaking.
· Volunteer management experience a plus.
· Positive team spirit and a culture of cooperation, openness, enthusiasm, customer service, and an atmosphere conducive to growth.
· Familiarity with Microsoft 365 information system.
